    China is going to build a $242 billion (1.5 trillion yuan) high-speed rail link between Beijing and Moscow. The line will cut the journey time from five to 'two days', say Chinese authorities.
    The railway will be 7,000 kilometers long and go through Kazakhstan, reports Bloomberg citing Beijing’s city government on the social networking site Weibo, China’s alternative to Twitter. The railway will make travel easier between Europe and Asia, the statement said.

    Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are setting up a new railway consortium that should increase cargo flow through Trans-Caspian route. The head of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) Javid Gurbanov and the head of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) Askar Mamin have held the talks today.

    Kazakhstan held a ceremony to commission two new railways, Zhezkazgan-Beineu and Arkalyk-Shubarkol on Aug. 22. The president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the ceremony. Some 500 billion tenge were spent on the construction of these railways, Nazarbayev said at the ceremony.

    In accordance with a project “New transport system of Astana city”, light rail transport will become the base of the capital’s system. It will be connected with bus rapid system – BRT and Intellectual transport system – ITS.


    This weekend a contract was signed with KSPMC (Kazakh Systra Projekt Management Consortium), which is determined as a Consultant on management of project of rapid light rail transport creation in Astana, as it is reported by the press service of the city akim’s central office.
